I don't agree with retiring numbers in football. traditionally numbers represented positions, and it is still somewhat true with the first 11 numbers. A number has history, has tradition. Think about all the great number 10's out there, iconic. The number 7 at Man U, it an honour to wear that number. It's an ambition for many players to reach a stage where they can wear the same number as their icon. For me, naming a stand after a true legend, building statues of them is better
